06/20/2009 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 2 Gerado is a young two-way player on the mound and at 3B with a solid average body that shows some strength in it. Foot speed is well below average and he must get on a speed / agility program to continue to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are heavy and he needs to be more aggressive in coming to get and playing through ground balls with his feet and hands. Defensive abilities in the IF are solid average. Arm strength is solid average and he will benefit by getting on a strict long toss program to further aid in developing more arm strength, raising velocities. At the plate, hitting abilities and power are solid average through an aggressive approach. He displays strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. He has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential with hitting grades improving quickly with instruction and adjustments at the plate. On the mound, fast ball is straight but locates well down in the zone. He attacks hitters and misses a lot of bats but needs some work on his mechanics to allow his live arm to work more freely through the zone. Cortey has a lot of potential on the mound with work. With 2 years to further develop, Gerado will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to develop.
