12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Gianni is a natural leader on the field who has also been blessed with a strong arm. Defensively, he has good footwork, nice arm action, and sure hands. Continuing to improve with athletic development activities will help boost his speed and jumps on the ball. On the mound, he works fast, throws a lot of strikes, and showed that his curveball can be an effective out pitch. Offensively, Gianni has good rhythm, balance, and a good finish through the zone. As he learns to incorporate his lower half into his swing, he will see steady improvement at the plate. Having seen Gianni a few times now, we know that he is a team leader and a great person, and he has a drive & a desire to succeed that many high schoolers do not have. He will be an excellent addition to any college program.

10/05/2014 - National Tryout - Trenton, NJ Gianni is a developing 2016 grad that projects as a RHP on the bump. He showed improvement as his velo bounced up to the mid 80s, topping out at 85. On the mound, his ability to work down in the zone with a tight CB will make him a tough guy to hit. On top of that, he hides the ball well and works with a quick, efficient tempo, keeping the hitters off balance. Continuing to utilize a long toss program and tapping into his lower 1/2, Gianni will see his stuff start to become even tougher to hit. At the plate, he has solid pop to the pull side tag teamed with an aggressive approach. His ability to use his lower 1/2 to drive balls into the gaps will make him a threat in any lineup. Developing consistent timing and a smoother approach, Gianni will notice his hitting abilities improve. This 2016 grad will raise some eyebrows in his upcoming season.

08/14/2014 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Gianni is a lean, athletic OF/RHP that will graduate in 2016 with abilities. Foot speed is slightly above average as indicated by his 7.47 60 time. At the plate, is where he shows best, displaying solid hitting abilities with well above average power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed and work through a level swing path He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grade to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. In the OF, he utilizes his aggressive / athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles to track balls down. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 76-81 mph with slight arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes. With 2 years to further develop, Gianni has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his plus baseball tools.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
