09/08/2019 - Interactive Video Program - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Gilberto raised arm velocity to 57 MPH and exit velocity to 59 MPH during his last workout with The Factory. At 3B, Gilberto has fluid/active feet, he fields low and athletically, and his hands are soft. He takes good angles to field, his exchange is clean, and he delivers the ball with accuracy and momentum across the diamond. On the mound, Gilberto has good balance and a clean arm circle. He separates his hands on time, gets good extension, and lands with a proper length stride toward the plate; competing in the zone. Offensively, Gilberto has an athletic stance, a short stride, and good balance. He stays inside the ball well, his swing is on-plane and direct, and he uses his lower body. Skills can continue to get better with work on the following.

09/09/2018 - Interactive Video Program - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Gilberto is a young, stocky, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Gilberto has efficient footwork, soft/presentable hands, and he works through the ball well. He fields athletically, his exchange is clean, and throws with momentum across the diamond. On the hill, Gilberto has a clean arm circle, he separates on time, and has a controlled landing toward home plate. He keeps his head on target, has good glove side lead, and is around the zone with his pitches. Offensively, Gilberto has an athletic set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He swings in good rhythm, makes level/consistent contact, and he gets his lower body through the zone. Gilberto can get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
