08/24/2013 - Under Armour All-America Game, powered by Baseball Factory "Jun" sits beautifully behind the plate, and has an advanced and well rounded set of defensive skills. He received with soft and strong hands, and blocked several balls nicely in the dirt with runners at third base. His catch and throw skills are standout, not only noticable in his mid to upper 1.8 pop times, but also in the consistent accuracy of his throws. He singled to LF from the left side of the plate, and hit two balls on the nose right handed - both for fly outs, one of which was a sac fly to CF. Strength is a big part of his swing from both sides of the plate, especially from his hands and wrists. The ball gets off the bat well from a short and compact move. There is more in the tank too, he has room to improve his extension to unlock more consistent contact and power.

06/12/2013 - Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One Florida Rodriguez has a solid build with strength in his lower half at 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds. He is an advanced defensive catcher, with standout catch and throw skills to go with excellent receiving and blocking skills. He sits naturally and easy, got low and remained athletic in his crouch. Did a great job of catching the outside of the ball, hands were soft while glove action was strong. Moved down easily and quickly to block, got angles to surround balls on edges and recovered to his feet easily. Posted 1.84 pop time several times, with nothing higher than 1.97. Best time recorded in game was 1.91. Exchange was clean and precise, while his feet gained ground and worked in synch with his upper body actions - the result was strong and accurate throws on the bag consistently. At the plate, he featured a flat and level stroke from both sides of the plate that allowed him to generate backspin and carry. He was quick to contact, and used his bigger muscles to drive through the ball. The ball got off his bat with life, though he is more of a line drive hitter at the point. He ran 7.21 in the 60 yard dash, got down the line in 4.49 from the left side and 4.57 from the right side.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
