09/14/2014 - College PREP - Azusa, CA Giovanni is a strong catcher with broad shoulders and good skills. Behind the plate, Giovanni has a solid base, quiet actions, and he moves well laterally. He has sure hands, efficient footwork, and a strong, accurate arm with carry to 2nd base. Pop times are as low as 1.94. Catching can improve if Giovanni can avoid stabbing, and gain more ground when play through to throw. Offensively, Giovanni has a balanced / square set-up, an activated load, and he swings in good rhythm. He rotates his base through the ball well, makes square contact, and the ball jumps off his bat. Staying level through the ball will only help offensive numbers spike.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
