Official Scouting Report

04/14/2013 - College PREP - Albuquerque, NM Sumter has an athletic build on his 5-foot-7 136 pound frame. He ran 7.19 in the 60, but even better down the line - posting 4.3 from left side and 4.44 from the right side. In the outfield, his feet were active and worked well in getting him to the spot to play the ball. His arm worked loose through the release, and he got his body involved to help generate velocity and carry. At the plate, he looked more natural from the right side - where he showed quicker hands and got better extension. His approach was similar from both sides of the plate. He hit from a square setup, took a short stride and got his hands back well. Hands stayed higher from the right side, where he showed better hand-eye coordination, but his stride foot tended land a little later as well. When stride got down in time, he was in position to make an athletic move with some quickness through the zone - tendency was to get a little uphill after the ball got in on him. Overall, a talented and athletic player with good all around ability.

09/19/2012 - Under Armour Fall Classic Sumter continues to show outstanding abilities in the OF with the makings of a solid player at the next level. Foot speed is well above average and he utilizes his quick / athletic feet well as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and goes back well. He reads balls well off his bat and covers a lot of ground but needs to work to get behind balls more to play through and continue to improve defensive grade. Throws display accuracy, life, and on line carry into his target as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, Glenn is a switch hitter that shows best from the right side where he displays outstanding abilities through an athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level / aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more through the swing.

11/11/2010 - Arizona Fall Select Training & Competition - 2010 Glenn is a young, thin, wiry, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Glenn reacts to the ball well and shows decent hands and feet. He has a good transition, a loose arm action, and he throws with carry and accuracy to his target. He will need to lower his approach and add strength for defensive grades to get better. On the mound, Glenn has a basic delivery and a loose arm and shoulder. He will need to improve his release point and control, as well as add arm strength in order to improve mound effectiveness. At the plate, Glenn has a good base and a loose body. He has good, basic actions, quick wrists, and he puts the ball in play. Glenn went 3-7 in live game play. Hitting will further improve with a shorter stroke and normal growth and maturity.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
