01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Grant continues to show a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure and he showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Feet / hands work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 67-72 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

06/17/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Grant is a talented 1B/RHP who has a versatile, projectable skill set and graduates in 2020. As a right-handed hitter, Grant has a tall setup with a centered balance and firm front side. He has good rhythm and an aggressive approach. Grant is a looking to put the ball in play and swings the bat hard. He is a contact type hitter who has the ability to drive the ball to the pull side. In the field, Grant plays with effective pre-pitch actions and the correct setup to give him a good jump on the ball. He has good footwork around the bag and moves swiftly. Grant throws from a 3/4 arm slot and his throws across the diamond are consistently accurate. On the mound, Grant pitches with good rhythm and keeps his eyes on his target. He stays square to home plate and has a controlled landing at the proper stride length. Grant does a nice job effectively using his front side and finishes with a good follow through. Overall, Grant is a hardworking prospect who has the right approach to the game and upside to get even better.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Grant is a hardworking 1B/RHP prospect who has good potential and graduates in 2020. Offensively, Grant has a square stance with fluid rhythm. He takes a good load with short stride and partially uses his lower half in his swing. Grant has good strength and effectively uses it in his swing. He is line drive type hitter who consistently sprays the ball to all fields with solid contact. Defensively, Grant plays hard and has an aggressive approach. He is working to present his glove earlier and quicken his exchange. Grant throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and is building his arm strength. On the mound, Grant looks the part with a pitcher's frame. He has a balanced delivery throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. Grant attacks the strike zone and does a nice job changing planes. He has more in the tank and features a fastball and curveball. Overall, Grant in a projectable prospect who has a solid skill set on both sides of the ball.

09/06/2015 - Interactive Video Program - San Francisco, CA Grant is a talented 2-way player (1B/RHP) who can swing it. With the bat, this righty shows a balanced setup with a strong base. He swings on a level path and connects with pop, connecting with strength. He likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and pulls it with pop. At 1B - Grant displays active pre-pitch footwork and moves well on the balls of his feet. He gets into a square fielding position and fields the GB out in front. On the mound, this RHP throws a FB & Splitter from a 3/4 arm slot. He works to a controlled balance point and stays directional toward the dish. He maintains level shoulders and drives off of the rubber with his lower 1/2. FB ranges from 69-71 mph with tail. Splitter has slight drop as he throws it for strikes. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
