01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Koch continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities behind and at the plate. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in working in line through a quick transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times were in the 2.00 range with accuracy, life, and on line carry through his target, displaying outstanding arm strength. He will control the running game with his feet / arm. Receiving / blocking skills are outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, hitting / power grades have improved, now showing as outstanding through a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and a plus feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off bat when centered. At the event, he was 2 for 4 with a 2B and 3B.

09/20/2013 - 2013 Under Armour Fall Classic - Upperclass Participant 9/20/13 - Strong, athletic, solid, small sitter, soft hands, receives well, presents early target, quick feet, good lateral movement, gets around to block, clean exchange with accurate throw, 2.0 pop time, athletic setup at the plate, quick hands, level path, pullside gap power

09/18/2013 - Under Armour Fall Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Grant is an exceptional 2015 backstop that flashed an in game pop of 1.89 seconds. His present strength, body control, and blocking technique separates him from others in his class. He shows good athleticism and active feet. Becoming more vocal and eliminating his minimal tendency to drop to a knee were areas he attacked during the event - showing great aptitude implementing those adjustments. Offensively, he has good feel at the dish with spray ability and extension through contact. He shows future strength as a hitter with some pop. Grant has a very high ceiling as a catcher at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
