Official Scouting Report

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Grant continues to show a promising future on the diamond with improvements in his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an outstanding runner at 6.91. In the OF, he displays outstanding abilities. He utilizes his aggressive feet as he plays through ball well. He displays smooth / clean actions with hands / feet working well together through the fielding process and is not afraid to get dirty. At the plate hands are quick and work through a level path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

07/29/2015 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Grant showed very well during his time at the UASW 17U Tournament. In the OF, he has quick footwork & gets good jumps, taking solid angles to track fly-balls down in the gaps. He has smooth/athletic actions, secures the ball, and fires strong/accurate throws into his target. As a hitter, Grant has a balanced setup with rhythm to load. He swings against a firm front side, and engages his lower 1/2 well, generating torque. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he utilizes the entire field. Grant has a great work ethic and brings it all on the field every day. This 2017 grad has a solid all-around skill-set and will make things happen as he enters his junior year.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Grant is a very sound OF/RHP that hits from the left side. Offensively, he generated good bat speed and kept his head still to drive the ball off the barrel consistently. He tracked, was patient, and worked to become more fluid and rhythmic to hit. On the base paths, he showed an ability to swipe bags with good instincts. In the OF, he made plays with a quick first step and worked well laterally to secure the ball with his sure glove. He threw with present carry, letting his body work to promote life. Adding foot speed and greater arm strength will improvement defensive grades. On the hill, he pounded the zone with a quick tempo and got outs. He pitched to contact and induced ground balls. All in all - Grant is a promising player that has 3 years of high school baseball to develop for the next level.

12/07/2014 - College PREP - Grand Prairie (DFW), TX Grant showed consistent ability on the diamond in his first outing with Baseball Factory. Offensively, he was direct with his hands to contact and got good extension through the ball. He was able to get his hands activated to launch and got the bat in a good angle to hit with strength. Adding rhythm and more lower half drive are essential to his growth in the box. In the OF, he worked behind with good angles and threw on-line to his targets. Direction and front side strength will increase carry and promote eventual life on throws. All in all - Grant is a consistent player that has time to add strength.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
