Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

10/17/2018 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Graydon continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond as he continues to improve his baseball tools. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved, now showing well above average. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and carry on his throws. Range is a plus as he continues to improve his foot quickness (7.30 60 time) and reads balls well off the bat, covering a lot of ground. At the plate he has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a short / direct swing path as he stays inside the ball utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 79 mph. Fastball shows a range of 76-79 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches, working to get ahead of hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

10/04/2017 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Graydon is an athletic two-way prospect who has natural instincts and is a player any coach would want to have. He has shown great improvement in his control on the mound, with feel for all of his pitches and the ability to throw each for strikes in any count. His quick arm leads to good action on his pitches and makes the ball jump on the hitter. He is quick to the plate from a 3/4 arm slot to get sink on the fastball and late, 11/5 break on the CB. He is aggressive and works to get ahead in the count. In the outfield, his athleticism and quickness become apparent with a quick first step and plenty of range to track down long fly balls. He takes efficient angles to make up ground and fields in an athletic position with a clean exchange to throw accurately to his target. At the dish, he has a patient approach and feel for the strike zone to pick out a pitch he can drive. His actions are smooth to load to a powerful bat angle and he whips the bat through the zone to make consistent, square contact. He is a coachable player who leaves it all on the field. Graydon has upside with the tools and instincts to play all over the field and is a very valuable player to have.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
