01/27/2019 - College PREP - Houston, TX Grayson is a solid, strong C/3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting abilities with tremendous power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. Behind the dish, he utilizes his feet well in working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times show a range of 2.21-2.27 with accuracy on his throws. Time will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He is flexible and displays a solid setup and utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to get body down sooner. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks ground balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. With 2 years to further develop, Grayson has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
