12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2
Grayson is a talented young athlete with the ability to play multiple positons. As a catcher, Grayson presents a big low target, and works behind the ball. He needs to continue to create momentum on his throws while shortening his initial step to second and exchanging the ball in front of his chest. Anticipating balls in the dirt and working the outside leg around the ball when blocking will elevate his game. As a hitter, Grayson stays back on the ball, gets his top hand through and looks to drive the ball middle away. Creating more rhythm in his hands, and loading on time will allow him to free up his backside and be more aggressive on inside pitches. Grayson is a hard working player and continues to improve with experience.

Grayson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a tremendous future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.41 runner. Behind the plate, feet are active as he gains ground and works through a clean / transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.53 with accuracy. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process. He is a wall behind the dish and deadens all balls out front. Glove action is soft as he lets ball travel, sticking balls in the zone. At the plate is he has improved hitting / power potential. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 5 years to further develop, Grayson has the makings of a special type player with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Grayson is a very coachable, hardworking player who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF he takes proper routes / angles and utilizes his feet to track balls down, working to get behind balls, playing through well. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his arm. Continuing to develop his foot speed will help to increase range in the OF. At the plate, he has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power is best shown to the pull side with numbers improving as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. At the event, he was 2 for 7 (with 2 walks). With 5 years to further develop, Grayson has tools with still a ton of time to progress.

Grayson is a young R/R 2-way player as a C/OF. With that bat, he has a balanced setup with patience, waiting for his pitch. He has quiet actions and attacks pitches in the zone. Getting loaded earlier will help to utilize lower 1/2 - resulting in more pop off of the barrel. Behind the dish, he sits in well and tracks pitches into his mitt. He works hard laterally to body up pitches in the dirt. Exchange is clean with accurate throws to 2B with pop times at 2.69. Skills behind the dish will improve as he develops his lateral movements and utilizes his chest to keep balls in front. In the OF, Grayson takes a good first step and is aggressive to track down fly-balls. He secures the ball with 2-hands and works in-line toward his target. Working more on the balls of his feet will help to improve range in the OF. Hawley (2020 grad) still has a ton of time to develop his skills.
