03/25/2012 - College PREP - Bartlett (Memphis), TN King continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Feet are active displaying proper footwork around the bag as he present a big target and is a solid receiver. Hands are soft / clean as he fields through a low approach and gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry on his throws. Defensive grades have improved to well above average. At the plate, Gregory shows a balanced approach and tracks the ball well. He needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields and improve hitting grades. Power numbers will improve as he learns to use his lower half more.

12/27/2011 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament - Session 2 Greg is a young, tall, strong framed 1st baseman who will graduate in 2013.  Defensively, Greg has good range, soft hands, and he scoops the ball well out of the dirt.  He works well around the bag, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a short / loose arm action, accurately to his target.  Defensive abilities can improve if Greg can smooth out his mechanics and field further out in front.  Offensively, Greg has a good base, solid balance, and his wrists are strong.  He has great bat speed, he rotates well, and can drive the ball well into the gaps.  Improved barrel accuracy and staying short to the ball can help improve offensive tool grades.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
