05/25/2021 - 2021 BF National South Showcase Grey continues to be an exciting prospect with a unique set of high-level tools. His 6'6" frame is imposing in the box and provides an excellent target at 1B. He shows his athleticism every team we see him and moves very well around the bag at 1B and can play the outfield as well, giving him excellent versatility. At the plate, Grey has a simple rock-and-go stroke from a spread stance that keeps him centered and allows him to deliver the barrel on time. The ball jumps off his barrel with hard line drives that carry. His high exit velocities also lead to some over-the-fence power.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) A projectable (6'6"/215) solid athlete - Brannen is the total package who shines every time he steps onto the field. At the plate, this righty has an aggressive mindset and is looking to jump on 1st pitch FB's. Quick hands and a smooth stroke result in consistent/hard contact (exit velo = 93 mph). At 1B, he puts his athleticism on display with quick/active footwork. He moves fluidly right to left in his approach to the GB and picks it with soft/sure hands. Grey is a versatile athlete who can play multiple positions. Speed, a strong arm and power = this top prospect who you'll want to keep an eye on as he's only entering his junior season.

05/28/2020 - 2020 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Grey continues to fill out his 6'5", 200 pound frame and gets better each time we see him. His RH swing is clean and efficient with the ball coming off the bat with authority. Despite his long levers, he keeps the swing simple and makes a coordinated and direct move to the ball and accelerates through contact. He already possesses some power and it looks like more is on the way. Grey is also a solid defender at 1B with a good feel around the bag and certainly providing a good target for his infielders. There continues to be exciting upside with Grey!

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Brannen is a versatile athlete who continues to show well on the diamond and did so again at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. In the OF, he takes a quick first step with solid routes and does a nice job working into position behind the fly-ball. Transfer/exchange is clean/smooth from glove to hand with backspin and accuracy on his throws. At the plate, this righty has a knack for barreling up the ball. Swing is level/repeatable as he connects and hits hard line-drives. He battles in games and collected a couple of singles. A 2022 grad - Grey has a ton of talent with still a lot of time to progress.

Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his quick feet in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with on line carry but will benefit by working to get rid of the baseball quicker. At the plate, power potential is now outstanding through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and works through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
