11/14/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Griffin continues to show that he is a coachable player and willing to make adjustments. Defensively, he shows the ability to field square to the ball while keeping it in front of his body. Griffin has shown improvements in his foot speed but will need work on his agility and footwork on his routes to the ball. Loose soft hands will also help with his receiving at first base. Offensively, Griffin showed better rhythm in his hands getting them back in his load. He will still need to focus on making sure he reaches a stronger load before the ball enters the hitting zone. With work in the areas above, Griffin can continue to improve before he enters high school next year.

02/23/2013 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 12-14) Griffin does a good job of attacking the baseball, he is an aggressive hitter with the ability to use his hands well. One thing that Griffin needs to focus on to improve his swing is, separating the stride and load from the swing. Griffin tends to step and swing, this causes him to be early on contact, and also causes him to get his hands out in front. He needs to take the swing step by step, focusing on the stride and load, when the that is accomplished he can add the swing to the end of it. Improving the stride and load will also allow Griffin to let the baseball travel into the hitting zone, it will also help him keep his hands back during the swing resulting in better contact and power.

11/15/2012 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Griffin continues to show consistency in his overall skills. In the field he presents a good target and does a good job keeping the ball in front. He does a good job creating angles but can work on staying lower to field. He can also focus on his footwork around the bag. Agility drills (Ladder, cones, hurdles) will help with lateral movement and overall foot speed. At the plate, Griffin continues to show the ability to use the entire field. He is aggressive and shows barrel accuracy. He can work on letting the ball travel while focusing on keeping his barrel inside the ball. With 2 years to develop before high school, Griffin shows abilities with room for improvement.

08/04/2012 - Interactive Video Program - Dublin (Columbus), OH Griffin is a big, athletic 1st baseman with a solid frame. Defensively, Griffin is aggressive to the ball, he tries to keep it in front, and he throws with a long arm action. At the plate, Griffin has a square setup, good balance, and he makes square contact. He has a level swing plane and he can spray to all fields. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Soften glove
2. Improve footwork
3. Long toss
Offense
1. Keep head still
2. Let ball travel

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
