08/23/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Nashville, TN Griffin is a talented/projectable LHP who pounds the zone with strikes. He works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 81-83 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball shows 1/7 shape with late / sharp break. Changeup is nasty with arm side run / sink and compliments his FB well. Slider is harder with tight spin and short / late break. He commands the zone and can spot up on all 4-pitches. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. With 3 years to further develop, Griffin has a big upside on the bump and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he progresses his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
