08/02/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Griffin is a tall, lean built 3B/SS prospect who has a talented skill set and graduates in 2019. As a right-handed hitter, Griffin has an open setup with his weight in the front of his stance. He takes a load with a long, open stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Griffin shows fast bat speed with a long swing path. He looks for the fastball has strength behind his swing producing hard contact. Griffin has the ability to drive the ball to each with power. In the field, Griffin plays with active, effective footwork making the routine plays. He has solid pre-pitch actions and fields the ball in an athletic position with a firm glove. He has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. His throws are strong across the diamond and he is developing consistency. Overall, Griffin is a talented prospect who has a well-rounded skill set with the talent to take his game to next level.

04/23/2017 - College PREP - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Griffin is a big, strong SS who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. In the MIF, he displays quick / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents out front. He moves well to his glove side with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Griffin has a ton of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
