10/26/2014 - National Tryout - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN Griffin improved many of his abilities from his previous outing with Baseball Factory. Defensively, he moved well to his glove side to make plays. He worked his feet, but needs to continue improving with agility drills. Offensively, he made contact with some feel for an oppo approach. He worked to make adjustments in his reps and with more lower half use will generate greater bat speed for harder contact. All in all - Griffin is a young middle infielder that has another three years to strengthen and become more consistent for the next level.

07/31/2014 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown Griffin continues to show athletic actions in the MIF. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date and will benefit by continuing to increase foot quickness. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process as he displays clean / smooth actions. Defensive grades will continue to improve as he presents his hands more out front and plays through balls more with his body. Throws are accurate as he gets rid of the baseball quickly but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup. Hands are loose, working through a level swing path. He makes contact and shows a solid line drive approach, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade with continue to improve as he works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and has the work ethic to take skill set to the next level.

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Griffin is a coachable player who is willing to make adjustments. Defensively at SS, he works to get into a square fielding position. He has a clean exchange and makes accurate throws across the diamond. Presenting his glove out in front and working to get into a lower fielding position will help to improve abilities at SS. Offensively, gets back into a strong loaded position. He delivers the barrel on a direct path and is a contact type hitter. Utilizing more of his lower 1/2 and creating extension through contact will both aid in improving his abilities with the bat. Griffin is a young, hard working player who will only continue to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
