01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Griffin continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities at the Under Armour Pre Season All American Tournament. At 1B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are firm and presents well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. He moves well laterally and utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Griffin has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities as he continues to progress his game.

02/15/2021 - All-In Membership - Gambrills, MD Griffin continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.03 runner. At 1B, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft /sure and present well out front. He moves well laterally, covering a lot of ground. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved, now displaying well above average hitting abilities with outstanding power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 76 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Griffin continues to shine at the event and has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve his foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing, flashing gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Griffin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.15 runner. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. His feet play well, and he moves with good body control to the baseball, displaying proper footwork around bag. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, flashing gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 74 mph. Fastball showed a range of 71-74 mph. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/01/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Griffin raised arm velocity to 75 MPH, ran his best 60 to date at 7.39 seconds, and showed a spike in exit velocity to 77 MPH during his last workout in Bel Air. At 1st base, Griffin moves well around the bag, he covers ground well, and fields squarely. He makes plays, shows a quick/clean exchange, and an accurate arm to his target. On the mound, this LHP has good balance, he separates his hands on time, and has a controlled landing toward home plate; competing in the zone. Offensively, Griffin has a tall/open stance, he loads well, and stands in well balanced. He finds the barrel consistently and can hit to all fields.

02/23/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching & Catching Weekend (Ages 14-18) Griffin is a coachable LHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Accelerated Training Weekend. On the mound, Griffin starts with a simple rock step and gathers over the rubber. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 69mph. Breaking ball sits from 51-54mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 54-56mph. Separating his hands earlier in his motion can help Griffin improve as a pitcher. With four more years to develop, Griffin has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/08/2018 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Hitting Weekend (Ages 12-14) Griffin is a hard working and talented 2023 prospect that made several adjustments throughout the Mid Atlantic Hitting Weekend. At the plate, Griffin starts in an athletic stance, has simple approach, and rotates his backside to the ball. He needs to load his hands back into the drive position, attack the inside part of the ball, and create backside rotation with the lower half. Griffin will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/20/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Griffin is a coachable 1B/LHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Winter Classic. In the field, Griffin shows quick footwork and is very agile ranging to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball in front of his body with soft hands. He has a clean exchange and a quick release on his throws which allows them to remain accurate and carry through his target. Griffin can improve defensively by following through more on his throws. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time. He shows a fluid rhythm and comes through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to hard contact and line drives. Griffin can improve as a hitter by working a load into his swing. With five more years to develop, Griffin has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/09/2017 - Accelerated Hitting Weekend PHS- Columbia, MD Griffin is a very coachable prospect and worked very hard to make adjustments during the Hitting Accelerated Training weekend. At the plate, Griffin starts in a tall and athletic stance. He loads his hands back in the launch position and stays balanced through contact. Griffin uses his lower half and shows good bat speed. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball will keep his barrel on plane. He needs to continue to get his front foot down early and get extension through contact. Griffin will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/22/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Potomac, MD Griffin is a tall (2023 grad) 1B/LHP. Defensively at 1B, he takes a solid 1st step and gets into a square fielding position on GB's. He has a clean exchange and fires the ball strong and accurately to his target. On the hill, this LHP gathers over the rubber and keeps his eyes locked in on the mitt. He delivers a 3-pitch mix from an over the top arm slot and stays directional towards home plate. With the stick, Griffin has a strong lower 1/2. He swings on a level path through the zone and consistently drives pitches on a line. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

12/10/2016 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 12-14) Griffin is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, he shows solid actions and makes adjustments well. Griffin can improve as a hitter by keeping two hands on the bat longer through contact.

10/16/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Griffin is a 1B/LHP who will graduate in 2023. At 1B, he takes athletic routes as he fields Gb's in a low position. He shows active footwork around the bag as he makes accurate throws to his target. On the hill, this lefty keeps his eyes locked in on his target. He works in line towards home plate and delivers from a hi 3/4 arm slot. At the plate, Griffin tracks as he shows good plate discipline. He swings level through the zone as he drives pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
