10/19/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching/Catching & Offensive Skills Combined Weekend (Ages 12-14) Griffin is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. Behind the plate, Griffin sits in an athletic stance and receives with a strong glove. He moves to block on time and centers the ball in the middle of his body. Moving more efficiently to block can help Griffin improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and works to barrel up the baseball, producing solid line drives. Griffin can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. With five more years to develop, Griffin has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

09/15/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Moosic (Scranton), PA Griffin is a strong, athletic, 2-way player who catches and plays 2nd base. Behind the plate, Griffin has active feet, firm hands, and he tracks well to his glove. He covers the 5 hole when blocking, his exchange is clean, and he throws with consistency and direction to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 3.03 seconds. At 2nd base, Griffin has active feet, he fields squarely, and his glove works well. He shows some feel for the backhand, his exchange is clean, and he throws with consistency across the diamond. Offensively, Griffin has an athletic stance, he loads his hands well, and he swings aggressively. He shows some bat speed, makes square contact, and he flashes pop in his bat. Overall skills can further improve with work on the following.

Catching
1. Throws downhill
2. Fielding position
Infield
1. Quicken feet
2. Stay low
Offense
1. Swing path
2. Finish

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
