10/13/2013 - College PREP - Abilene, TX Gunnar is a lanky 2B/RHP that will graduate in 2016. Currently, he projects best at 2B for the next level. Feet are active as he moves well laterally and works to square balls up, displaying clean hands. Defensive grades will continue to improve as he works to present glove more out front and improves his double play feeds. Throws are accurate, but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a balanced / closed approach. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to improve barrel accuracy and work through the ball at contact. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to load more and use his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 56-60 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. He slows arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and throws more strikes. With 3 years to further develop, Gunnar has abilities with time and room to improve.
