Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHPPosition Projection

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Gunner is a RHP/1B with a strong pitchers body. Defensively, he displays a big target with a strong accurate arm. During the weekend, he did a good job making picks at 1B but can continue to improve working from the ground up. Focusing on his routes and angles to the ball will also help increase fielding grades. Gunner projects best on the mound where he showed solid control competing in the strike zone. He showed good arm strength and will continue to improve as he focuses on his landing and extension. Gunner has the tendency to land with his front foot open creating his arm to work across his body instead of towards his target. Work on the towel drill we went over at camp to help finish chest over knee. At the plate, Gunner flashes power potential with good barrel delivery and level swing path. He can focus on keeping better balance in his load, staying on the balls of his feet and finishing heel over toe at contact. Overall, Gunner is a strong player that shows potential as he works on the improving on the areas above.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
