Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/SSPosition Projection

01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (HS) Gunner is a RHP/SS prospect who showcased his skills during the Pre-Season Prospects Tournament. On the mound, Gunner shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 69mph. Breaking ball sits at 63mph with 11-5 break. Striding inline toward the plate can help Gunner improve his pitch command. In the field, Gunner makes the routine plays and has a clean exchange, making accurate throws to his target. Gunner can field ground balls more efficiently by getting into a lower fielding position. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He gets into a small load and works to barrel up the baseball, using the entire field well. Working through a shorter, more level swing path can help Gunner create more consistent contact. Overall, Gunner is a developing prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Gunner is an athletic 2-way prospect with good size. At SS, Gunner has active movement with his prep step, he creates angles to the ball and makes accurate throws. At the plate, Gunner starts in a squared stance, he has loose hands, and gets his front foot down on time. He has fast hands to the ball and he looks to hit the ball to all fields. He needs to continue to rotate his backside and finish his swing after contact. On the bump, Gunner has confidence in his fastball and has a 10-4 break in his curveball. He separates on time and he finds a balance point. Gunner has potential on the mound and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
