Official Scouting Report

  • 1BPosition Projection

08/03/2017 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 12-14) Hagen is a talented 1B prospect who has a well-rounded skill set and graduates in 2022. As a left-handed hitter, Hagen has a crouched stance with a centered balance. He has a load with a square stride. Hagen shows fast bat speed and is developing an on-plane swing path. He consistently produces hard contact landing the barrel to the baseball. Hagen has the ability to drive the baseball with good power. In the field, Hagen plays with effective footwork covering good ground taking the correct angles. He fields the ball in a high position with choppy rhythm. Hagen works around the baseball and shows a solid backhand. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot showing consistently strong throws across the diamond. Overall, Hagen is a hardworking prospect who has good potential to take his skills to the next level.

04/15/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Hattiesburg, MS Hagen is a solid (5'10"/185) 1B/RHP. At 1B, he works hard to get around and into an athletic fielding position on GB's. He releases the ball from a 3/4 arm slot and gives accurate DP feeds. On the hill, this righty repeats his delivery. He commands his FB around the the plate as he works in-line and finishes strong towards his target. Offensively, Hagen sets up square in the box and strides short to each pitch. He takes aggressive cuts through the zone as he drives pitches with pop to his pull side. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Quicker footwork
2. Develop soft hands
3. Clean/quick exchange to throw
Pitching
1. Better tempo
2. Develop CH
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Improve bat speed/hands
3. Lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
