He maintains an athletic setup with fluid rhythm to load getting good hand separation. He fires the barrel to and through the zone as he squares the ball up and hits line-drives to all parts of the field. He is a table setter at the top of the line-up with his knack to battle and put the barrel on the ball (going 4 for 5 with 4 singles and a walk at the event). At 3B, he has active footwork and works smoothly around the GB from right to left. Hands are soft with a quick release firing strong throws with zip across the diamond (88 mph). Haldan is a very talented 3B prospect who has the tools that will translate well into a high level of play.

Offensively, he has quick/strong hands, a simple/compact swing, and a direct barrel to the ball. Haldan has pop in his bat and can work the ball gap to gap well. He engages his lower 1/2 well, resulting in good power. At 3rd base, Haldan shows athletic actions. He has a sure glove, fields in a low position, and his exchange is clean. He keeps the ball in front of his body, and has an accurate arm with carry and consistency across the diamond. This 2018 grad has upside and can make things happen is a variety of ways.

This switch hitter currently shows more naturally from the right side. He steps into the box with a purpose and battles, proving to be a tough out. Barrel delivery is quick to and through the zone as the ball jumps off of his barrel when centered (exit velocity = 84 mph). He is a line-drive type of hitter who barrels the ball up consistently. At 2B, Haldan moves fluidly on the balls of his feet. He covers ground to his right and left, is sure handed and has the ability to pick it. More lower 1/2 drive will result in increase power at the plate. On the mound, Haldan has repeatable mechanics and keeps his eyes on the target. FB tops out at 80 mph as he pitches to contact and lets his defense work. CB & SL have similar action and will develop into more effective pitches as he works to keep the same arm speed (as FB) and stays on top. Bjornson is only a 2018 grad who still has a ton of time to develop his skills.
01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18)
Haldan is a young 3B/RHP that will graduate in 2018. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, displaying clean hands as he makes the plays. He moves well laterally, flashing range. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to increase foot quickness and play through balls more while presenting hands more out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows as a switch hitter that projects slightly better from the left side. He shows an athletic / squared setup with rhythm. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to get stride foot down sooner to work on time and let the ball travel more. Power numbers will improve as he learns to load more and use his lower half. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 77-79 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup showing a slight feel for. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength, work to throw more strikes, and develops off speed pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 3 years to further develop, Haldan has abilities with a lot of room to improve.
