Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SSPosition Projection

01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Cornforth showed only at SS at the event but has improved his abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date at 7.45. He utilizes his quick feet well in attacking ground balls, playing through while presenting his hands out front and improving his defensive grades to well above average. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws but will benefit by continuing to build arm strength. At the plate, Harrison shows a balanced approach with rhythm and tracks the ball well. His hands work inside the ball as he utilizes all fields through a level swing path. Power numbers will increase as he improves barrel accuracy and uses his lower half more.

10/26/2011 - Arizona Fr/So Fall Classic - 2011 Cornforth showed similar abilities as we had previously seen in Edmond, OK. Currently, he projects best at SS for the next level. Feet are active as he plays through ground balls displaying clean hands. He needs to present more out front and work to get rid of the ball quicker to improve defensive grades. At the plate, Harrison shows an athletic setup allowing hands to work to and through the baseball at contact. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and he shows some strength in his swing. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to load more and transfer weight properly through the swing. At the event, he was 4 for 8 with a 3B. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 77-79 mph with slight sink. Off speed pitches need further development to be quality pitches at the next level. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and plays with a lot of energy.

10/27/2010 - Arizona Fr/So Fall Classic - 2010 Harrison is a young (2014) two-way player at SS plus on the mound with an average, thin frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature and fill out. Foot speed is near average as he needs to get on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the middle of the IF. Feet are active and aggressive on his approach as he plays through the baseball. Actions are loose and easy with throws showing accuracy as he will benefit by getting on a long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength with carry. Offensively, Cornforth shows a solid setup as he gets into a good launch position. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed as makes consistent hard contact. Power numbers will continue to increase as he adds more overall body strength. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 73-79 mph with tailing action. Off speed pitches are average to below, needing further development to be quality pitches at the next level. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes to both sides of the plate. With 4 years to further develop, Harrison has potential with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
