12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Harry continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a bright future on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.15 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength. He shows a solid setup and soft glove action, sticking balls in the zone well. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process with skill improving as he improves flexibility. At the plate he continues to show as a switch hitter and has improved from both sides, showing similar abilities. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. At the plate, he was 4 for 7 with 2 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

10/01/2017 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Harry is a strong, switch hitting, 2-way player who catches and plays 1B. Behind the plate, Harry has good flexion, quiet hands, and he sits in well. He sits in athletically, blocks and receives well, and throws with carry and accuracy to 2nd base. Blocking sooner and adding arm strength will help catching get better. At 1st base, Harry has good actions, soft/sure hands, and he plays through the ball well. He centers well, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a quick arm action with accuracy to his target. If Harry can raise his arm slot and shorten his exchange, abilities in the INF can get even better. Offensively, Harry is equally as good from both sides of the plate. From the right, he has quick hands, solid pop, and a consistent barrel. From the left, Harry has an athletic set-up, a direct barrel, and good pop in his bat. Hitting can get better if Harry can stay short and level, work on his balance, and improve his timing. A 2019 grad, Harry has tools that will provide success on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
