07/05/2019 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Hayden is a hard working 2026 2-way prospect that brought a lot of positive energy and wanted to get better every day. Behind the dish, Hayden starts in an athletic position but catches the ball too deep into his body. He needs to continue to work behind the ball and see the ball into his glove. He gets behind the ball when blocking but needs to anticipate the balls in the dirt. When throwing he replaces his feet and makes accurate throws. At the plate, Hayden starts in an open stance and loads his hands back. He's aggressive on fastballs, gets his front foot down on time, and rotates his backside. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and keep the barrel flat to the ball. On the bump, Hayden gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and works downhill. He throws his curveball for strikes but needs to continue to throw his fastball down in the zone. Hayden is a smart kid and makes adjustments to hitters. Hayden will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/02/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Sacramento, CA Hayden is a lean, 2-way player who catches and pitches. Behind the plate, Hayden has active feet, a square set-up, and he is quick when blocking. He covers the 5 hole, looks the ball into his glove, and has good throwing mechanics to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 3.08 seconds. On the mound, Hayden keeps his eyes on target, he separates on time, and gets good pivot off his back foot. He has a controlled landing toward home plate and is around the zone with his FB. Offensively, Hayden has a square set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He uses his hips, he can spray to all fields, and he uses some lower body. Overall skills can get better if Hayden can work on the following.

Catching
1. Quicken feet
2. Fielding position
3. Release
Pitching
1. Stride-balance
2. Release
3. Off-speed
Offense
1. Load
2. Timing
3. Swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
