05/12/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Lakewood (Denver), CO Hayden is an athletic 2B/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At 2B, Hayden shows fluid footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He gets good extension through the ball with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and gap to gap pop. On the mound, Hayden gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Hayden shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits from 66-69mph with 11-5 break. Splitter sits from 65-69mph with good downward action. Overall, Hayden is a talented prospect who will be one to follow going into his senior season.

Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. At the event, he threw 6 innings, giving up 1 run with 6 K's. He saved a game and started a game, picking up the win. Defensively in the IF, he shows active prep with fluid actions. He works around the GB and through it as he gains ground toward his target. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play and is versatile to play all IF positions. Backhand is smooth with a quick release. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone (84 mph exit velocity) as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel when centered. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a solid team player and works hard to be the best player he can be.

At the plate, Hayden starts in a crouched stance, he has a middle approach, and identifies the breaking ball early. He gets the barrel flat through the zone, stays balanced through contact, and gets extension through the ball. On the bump, Hayden shows good presence and is aggressive in the zone. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
