Official Scouting Report

  • 1BPosition Projection

05/15/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC Hayden continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around bag, and he is a good receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/30/2021 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (MS) Hayden is 1B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2025. Hayden continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities on the diamond. Bat exit speed and arm velocity have improved as he recorded his best velocities to date. At 1B, he was unable to throw as he had a sore/tender arm. He went through the fielding portion of the workout and he showed good glove actions with soft hands. Hayden will move more efficiently in the field as his foot speed improves. At the plate, he hits from an upright and even stance with a high hand set. Has a controlled stride and short barrel path. He sprayed balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 72mph during BP. Consistent contact will improve as he keeps his head on the ball. On the mound, Hayden works exclusively from the stretch. He starts with his glove centered and strides in-line to his target. Does a good job of controlling the run and pitches to contact. He attacks hitters with a fastball that sat 58-60mph with signs of command and a cutter with good movement. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss and J-band program. With 4 years of continued growth and development, this 2-way prospect should have a bright future on the baseball field.

08/05/2019 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Hayden is a coachable 1B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Pro Select Training at Pirate City. In the field, Hayden gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body, working to keep his throws accurate to his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Hayden improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and works to make contact with the ball. Hayden can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Hayden shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 55mph. Changeup sits from 51-52mph. Lengthening his arm action can help Hayden improve as a pitcher. With six more years to develop, Hayden has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
