Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

12/17/2023 - National Showcase - Tomball (Houston), TX Hayden is a 1B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2025. A tall frame long-levered player who has plenty of room to add strength throughout. He presents a big target at 1B with ability to scoop baseballs. He fields from a square fielding position with hands out front. Shows ability to spin glove side on his throws to second base. On the mound he works from the stretch only. He throws a "heavy" ball and gets his chest to his glove. He works off of a FB that sits 75-77mph with tailing action and plus command. He mixes in a 10/4 shaped breaking ball, a slider from the same window, and a changeup with sinking action that he throws with FB arm speed. FB was best pitch during his bullpen session. A right-handed hitter he starts with a crouched and open stance. Uses his long levers to generate bat speed as the ball jumps off of his barrel. He is centered at contact and has a high finish. He squared up balls into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 84mph. Hayden should have opportunities to play at the next level with continued growth and development.

10/18/2023 - Arizona Easton Fall Classic Hayden continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities on the diamond at the Arizona Easton Fall Classic. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 1B, he shows active footwork and presents his glove out front to field. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. He is smooth getting into his load and comes through the zone well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing to the ball which leads to hard contact (89 mph exit velocity). On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 83 mph. Fastball showed a range of 78-83 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

05/21/2023 - National Showcase - Deer Park (Houston), TX Hayden is a 1B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2025. Tall frame stout build with strength present and plenty of room to add more strength throughout. At 1B, he works to center the ball and takes aggressive angles to baseball. Showed good footwork around the bag and presents a big target. Has a long arm stroke in back as he works into a high 3/4 release point, with accurate throws to second base, and an arm velocity up to 82mph. On the mound, he has a projectible frame with long levers. He works with good tempo and throws with intent. Throws a FB that sits 78-81mph with plus command, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball that flashes good depth through the strike zone, and a developing changeup. CB was best pitch during his bullpen. At the plate he hits from an upright and open stance. Starts with a short glide step, with intent in swing, and has a high finish. Hit baseballs hard to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 85mph during BP. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee this 2-way prospect making huge strides on the baseball diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
