05/12/2019 - National Tryout Plus - San Antonio, TX Hector worked out behind the plate and at SS during his last workout with The Factory. He increased velocity to 76 MPH, lowered 60 time (7.75), and showed defensive and offensive upgrades. Behind the plate, Hector has active feet, a presentable glove, and he sits in easy. He has quick lateral movements, he looks the ball into his glove, and throws with momentum from a short arm action to his target. At SS, Hector has active footwork, he takes good angles to the ball, and his exchange is quick with a long arm action across the diamond. Offensively, Hector has a closed stance, he loads well, and swings aggressively. He can work the ball gap to gap, finds the barrel, and uses his lower body.

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Hector is a lean catcher who will graduate in 2024. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times show in the range of 2.56-2.69 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and he works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft and he sticks in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down quicker. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields well through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 5 years to further develop, Hector has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
