06/15/2023 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Hector continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 6.96 runner. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (84 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

05/14/2023 - National Showcase - Plainview (Lubbock), TX Hector is a SS prospect who will graduate in 2023. Medium frame athletic build with strength present. Ran his 60-yard dash in 6.99 seconds. In the infield, he starts with fluid/efficient footwork and a good prep step. Creates good fielding angles as he fields from an athletic/square fielding position with soft hands out front. Clean transfers into a high 3/4 release point with on-line throws to first base and arm velocity up to 84mph. He holds his line on slow rollers. A right-handed hitter, hits from an athletic and square stance. Smooth timing, with quick hands, and good barrel control at contact. A direct barrel path enables him to hit line drives with a bat exit velocity up to 80mph. With continued development we see Hector having opportunities to play at the next level.

09/19/2021 - All-In Membership - Hobbs, NM Hector is an OF/2B prospect who will graduate in 2023. Medium frame athletic build with strength to the build and room to develop. In the OF, shows efficient feet and athletic actions. Good 1st step reads enable to create good angles and work through the baseball. He fields from an athletic fielding position and keeps his feet active throughout the process. Accurate/on-line throws to cutoff man from a 3/4 arm slot, with momentum towards target, and an arm velocity up to 80mph. In the infield, he shows active feet and creates good angles to both his glove side and backhand. Tries to work around the baseball and fields from a square fielding position. Good touch on his flip and follow on DP feeds. He showed better in the OF during his workout. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and open stance. Takes a short/square stride to contact, with good hand separation, and hits into a firm front side. Hit balls into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 74mph during his round of BP. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee this 2-way prospect having a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
