07/29/2019 - National Tryout Plus - York, PA Hector is a young OF that graduates in 2022. In the OF, Hector shows active footwork and takes effective angles showing solid range. He presents a good glove with soft hands fielding the ball square and makes clean exchanges. His throws are consistent with a short arm action. Hector can improve his arm strength with a good long toss program. Hitting, Hector sets up tall with a slightly open stance as he loads back and keeps a square stride. As he tracks the ball in, Hector shows good rotation and the ability to make solid contact. Hector has several years to develop, and we look forward to seeing his progress.

11/08/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Hector is a coachable OF/LHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Select Training & Competition at Pirate City. In the OF, Hector makes the routine plays and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Getting into a more athletic position can help Hector improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to solid line drives. Hector can improve as a hitter by consistently finishing with two hands on the bat. On the mound, Hector gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He stays inline towards the plate and shows a controlled landing. Hector shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 65mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 56-60mph with 1-7 break. Hector can improve as a hitter by loosening his arm action. With four more years to develop, Hector has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
