02/17/2019 - College PREP - Highland Park (DFW), TX Cooper continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. In the OF, he continues to shine. He utilizes his quick/aggressive feet as he moves well laterally, displaying range (6.71 60 time) as he covers a ton of ground. He displays smooth/clean actions with hands/feet working well together through the fielding process as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line carry (88 mph velocity) on his throws. Cooper has big upside and will get looks from collegiate coaches and pro scouts with his baseball abilities.

06/06/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas Cooper continues to show a promising future on the diamond with the makings of a special type player at the next level. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a superior runner at 6.64. In the OF not many balls get down that are hit his way. Transfer exchange is smooth as he zips throws (86 mph velocity) on a line through his target. He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. A RHH - he stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression (84 mph exit velocity) as he connects with power driving to all parts of the field. On the mound, FB showed a range of 78-79 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. He works tall and drives downhill, repeating well and throws strikes with all his pitches. With 3 years to further develop, Cooper has the tools that will play at a high level and make an immediate impact.

04/09/2017 - College PREP - Plano (DFW), TX Cooper continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an excellent runner at 6.82. In the OF, he displays smooth/athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes/angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He is aggressive, works to get behind balls, and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through an athletic/squared setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, delivery is sound/repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He maintains eyes on target and has good rhythm. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 79 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin and gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows good cutting action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

11/27/2016 - College PREP - Tyler, TX Cooper is a young (2020 grad) R/R OF/RHP. Defensively in the OF, he shows active footwork and hustles to track down fly-balls hit to his right and left. He covers ground with speed - 6.97 60 yard dash. He gathers well and has a clean transfer/exchange to throw. Utilizing more of his lower 1/2 throughout the throw will help to get even more into his throws. As a hitter, Cooper shows a tall setup with centered balance. He has smooth rhythm to load and jumps on pitches he likes, squaring the ball up. He is a contact type hitter and drives the middle of the field. Swinging on a shorter/more direct path will result in increased pop off of the barrel. On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a quick arm action. He stays directional, downhill toward the plate and repeats his delivery well. FB tops out at 75 mph while showing slight run. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape - 58-59 mph. Changeup compliments FB well with sinking action. Cooper has a solid skill-set that will only continue to improve over the next few years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
