  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

07/05/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Henry continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At 2B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, displaying sure hands as he makes the plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 66 mph. Fastball shows a range of 62-66 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

04/29/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Fairfield (Sacramento), CA Henry is a young, 2-way player who pitches and plays 2nd base. On the mound, Henry has a balanced/compact delivery, he separates on time, and gets good extension through the ball. He keeps his eyes on target, lands in a square direction, and competes in the zone with his pitches. At 2nd base, Henry has active feet, he attacks the ball aggressively, and has a clean exchange with good accuracy and direction toward his target. Offensively, Henry has a square set-up, a short stride, and he swings in good rhythm. He stands in well balanced, has a direct barrel to the ball, and can spray to all fields. Henry can improve skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
