07/09/2014 - College PREP - Minneapolis, MN Henry continues to improve his pop times behind the plate as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.10. He gets rid of the baseball quickly and shows playable receiving / blocking tools at the next level. Defensive grade in the OF, have improved as well now showing solid abilities through smooth / clean actions. At the plate, he shows loose hands and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields.

06/14/2014 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Poling improved his pop times behind the plate as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.20. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength. Receiving / blocking tools are quality tools that will play at the next level as he continues to improve. In the OF, he tracks balls well but needs to work to get behind balls more and increase foot quickness to continue to improve defensive grade. At the plate, he shows a simple approach and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will improves he learns to use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a leader and works hard to be the best player he can be, very coachable.

12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Henry only showed in the OF at the event where he continues to show improvements. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a solid 7.30 runner. He utilizes his quick feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and communicates well. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he learns to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. At the plate, hands work through a level path and he displays quick hands. Mental makeup is a plus as he is an outstanding young man and is willing to make adjustments to be the best player he can be.

10/27/2013 - College PREP - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN Henry is an average sized, 2-way player who catches and plays OF. Behind the plate, Henry has efficient footwork, a solid set-up, and flexible actions. He keeps his chin down when blocking, he tracks the ball well, and he throws with consistency to his target. Quicker feet, a wider base, and added arm strength will help catching get better. In the OF, Henry has solid footwork, he gets in a good ready position, and he throws with a clean exchange with consistency to his target. Greater energy and playing more through the ball will help OF improve. At the plate, Henry has an athletic set-up, good balance, and a compact swing. He makes solid contact, has good separation, and he gets good extension through the ball. If Henry can let the ball travel, loosen his actions, and swing in better rhythm, offense will spike.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
