06/24/2019 - College PREP - Troy (Albany), NY Henry continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a bright future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth/athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft and he presents well, utilizing two hands through the process. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.46 range. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Hands are soft/sure but needs to present glove earlier. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process, centering balls out front. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

05/20/2018 - College PREP - Nyack (NYC), NY Henry is a young OF/C graduating in 2021. Behind the plate, Henry gains ground to make plays and shows a square fielding position, centering himself behind the baseball and using quiet movements when receiving. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot and makes consistently accurate throws to his targets. Henry can improve behind the plate by presenting his hands out front when receiving and working on quicker, cleaner exchange. In the outfield, Henry shows active feet and agility when tracking down fly balls, getting behind the ball when making plays. He shows rhythm and gets into a low, athletic fielding position while presenting his hands. He makes clean exchanges into a short arm action (high 3/4 arm slot) while making accurate throws to his targets through a quick release. Henry can improve his arm strength by implementing a throwing program to his training and working on getting on top of the baseball. Henry shows upside at the plate with his gap-to-gap approach. He shows a crouched set up with a square stride and a good back side hand load. Rhythm is smooth as he leads with his lower half and shows a direct swing path to the baseball while making strong, square contact. Henry can improve offensively by keeping his balance center through his swing and finishing after contact. We look forward to seeing how Henry develops his game as time moves on.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
