06/02/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Heston continues to show a promising future on the diamond. Defensively at 1B, he shows active prep with fluid actions. He works around the GB and through it as he gains ground toward his target. Exchange is clean with strong throws. Backhand is smooth with a quick release. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone (84 mph exit velocity) as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. On the bump, he had a solid showing at the event. He attacks hitters, throwing a lot of strikes as he works to get ahead of hitters through a quick tempo. Fastball showed range of 82-84 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and works to get ahead, utilizing both sides of the plate.

12/20/2015 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 1 Heston is an athletic player that showed as one of the best players at the event both at 3B and on the mound. In the IF, actions are fluid and smooth with hands/feet working well together through the fielding process. Feet are active/aggressive as he moves well laterally, displaying range. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with life, accuracy, and on line carry across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine, showing good leverage and strength in his swing. Hands are quick and work inside the ball, utilizing all fields with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. On the mound, he shows a lot of life on his fastball with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Slider displays 11/5 shape with sharp break and he maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all pitches as he pounds the zone. With 5 years to further develop, Heston has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way player.

07/13/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Carrollton (DFW), TX Heston is a talented 2-way player (3B/RHP) who can swing it. Offensively, this RHH shows an athletic setup with rhythm in his hands. Barrel delivery is quick to and through the zone as he connects and creates hard contact. He hits the ball where it's pitched and uses the entire field. At 3B, Heston shows quick/active footwork and moves well around the GB. He funnels smoothly and has a quick/clean exchange to throw. On the bump, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix (FB, CUT, CH) coming from a 3/4 arm slot. FB ranges from 70-72 mph as he drives his lower 1/2 off of the rubber and works downhill. Cutter is best off speed pitch with good depth and hard action. He fills up the zone and throws it for strikes consistently. Changeup has run and compliments FB well. Heston is a very talented player who has a bright future ahead of him. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Level out swing path
2. Contact points
Defense
1. Play through ball
2. Transfer/exchange
Pitching
1. Rhythm/Tempo
2. Finish with extension

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
