Official Scouting Report

  • 4Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Hiram is a strong and stocky 2020 2-way prospect that had great energy on the field. At 1B, Hiram is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and works off the bag well. He understands positioning on cut offs and he creates throwing lanes on double plays. He fields the ball in front of his body and is aggressive on slow rollers. At the plate, Hiram starts in an open stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. In game he had a middle approach and made solid contact with a pair of hits on the weekend. Hiram was eager to learn and continues to improve each event.

12/27/2018 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Hiram is a strong and talented 2020 1B prospect that worked hard all week. At 1B, Hiram is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and works off the bag well. He has a clean exchange and makes good feeds on double plays. At the plate, Hiram starts in a crouched stance, he activates his hands during his load, and he stays balanced through contact. Hiram gets good extension through the ball but needs to continue to create backside rotation with the lower half. Hiram uses the whole field and drove the ball well to the right center field gap. Hiram will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

05/20/2018 - College PREP - Redwood City (San Francisco/San Jose), CA Hiram is a talented 1B/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set. Offensively, Hiram has an athletic setup with a firm front side and centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and square stride. Hiram shows fast bat speed with quick hands and an on-plane swing path. He does a nice job using his lower half and produces square contact. Hiram has pull side power and the ability to spray the ball to all fields. In the field, Hiram plays with effective pre-pitch actions and active footwork. He presents his glove and stays low to the baseball with agile actions. Hiram has a quick exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He plays with good momentum through the baseball and shows accurate, strong throws across the diamond. On the mound, Hiram has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a clean arm action and extends through his release. Hiram stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. He does a nice job rotating with his hips as he finishes towards his target. Hiram has pitchability with command of 3 pitches that all have movement. Overall, Hiram is an above average prospect who has skill on both sides of the ball.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
