01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Holden is an athletic (5'10"/165) two-way (SS/RHP) prospect in the class of 2022 with a lot of potential to be an impact player at the next level. At SS, he creates range using quick footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He presents his glove out front and sticks the ball, creating momentum toward his target using a quick/clean exchange. Release is quick and throws are consistent/online from a 3/4 arm slot. Holden steps into the box using a middle of the field approach with good balance. Rhythm at the plate is smooth and he works through his lower half to generate line-drive type contact. He extends his hands through contact, squaring the ball up with pop (exit velo = 77 mph). On the mound, this righty works with a two-pitch mix and uses good direction toward his target. FB ranges 70-71 and CH ranges 64-66 with good run. Holden is an exciting player who has a lot of upside.

07/28/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Holden continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.12 runner. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a crouched setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 74-77 mph with sink. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with loose spin and gradual break. He maintains arm speed and shows a feel for pitch with sinking action. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

03/01/2020 - Accelerated College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Holden is a strong SS prospect who will graduate in 2022. In the field, Holden shows active footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws accurate to his target. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Holden improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and leads well with his lower half. He works to barrel up the baseball and produces solid line drives. Holden can improve as a hitter by taking a level swing path. Overall, Holden is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
