01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Holden continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities at the Pre-Season All American. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as excellent tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times showed in 1.96 range with accuracy / carryon his throws. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. Holden has a high skill set and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Holden is a class of 2024 catcher/shortstop. Behind the plate, he showed good footwork and plus arm strength. He has a good ability to control the run game and had pop times as low as 1.95 seconds. He did a good job blocking and showed quickness and good pitch recognition. He received well and was able to show quiet actions. At the plate, he showed the ability to hit from both sides of the plate. He has a good approach with a middle of the field focus. He did a good job using his lower ½ from both sides of the plate. In game action he was able to find barrels often and got on base multiple times. Holden is a well-rounded athletic catcher and we hope to see him again as he continues to develop.

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - East) Holden continues to shine on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Pop times showed in the 2.20 range with accuracy on his throws. Offensively, he continues to shine through a squared setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel (84 mph exit velocity) with leverage through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 80 mph. Fastball showed a range of 77-80 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is coachable, a solid team player, and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Holden Cooper, 2024 C/RHP showed well at his impressive 3rd Rookie Pre-Season All America event. Strong Catching prospect, does all the little things right. Works underneath the baseball, presents his glove well, blocks everything and had outstanding footwork to throw with a quick release and plus arm (2.07 POP). Tossed 3 scoreless innings on the mound with his FB sitting 75-77mph with very good command. Best pitch of the outing was his Changeup (70-71 mph). Threw it deceptively and has swing and miss sinking action. At the plate, Holden had a weekend of impressive at bats. Reached safely in 6 of 8 PAs (3 H, 3 BBs) showcasing a line drive approach. Creates rhythm at the plate, has a nice compact swing and delivers the barrel with a little authority. A plus athlete at the catching position rounds Holden out to an impressive player in the 2024 class.

10/14/2020 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Holden continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He will benefit by utilizing his body more through the blocking process to center balls out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.14. Offensively, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the baseball, utilizing all fields and has strength (84 mph exit velocity) with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 4 for 11 with 2 2B. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 76 mph. Fastball showed good arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with arm side run. Slider displays tight spin with short, sharp break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

03/01/2020 - National Tryout Plus - Wilson, NC Holden is a talented 2-way player (C/RHP) who continues to progress on the diamond. Behind the dish, he sits in well with athletic actions tracking pitches into a soft mitt. Transfer/exchange is quick/clean with accuracy on throws down to 2B - pop times still in the low 2's. As a hitter, he steps into the box looking to swing it. He takes an aggressive hack, barrels balls up and has pop to his pull-side (exit velocity now at 79 mph). On the mound, Cooper works to a controlled balance point and stays directional toward his target at the plate. FB still sits mid 70's as he pounds the zone with strikes. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape, 64-65 mph. Continuing to develop his off-speed pitches will aid in his development on the mound. Only a 2024 grad - Holden has a ton of upside with a lot of time to get to where he wants to be.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Holden is an athletic and talented 2-way prospect. Behind the dish, Holden controls the tempo of the game and leads by example. When receiving, he presents a low target, he has a quiet stance, and he works under the ball. When blocking, he anticipates the ball in the dirt and he controls the ball with his body. When throwing, he has a clean exchange and he creates momentum with his lower half. At the plate, Holden starts in a tall and open stance. He has simple load and he attacks the inside part of the ball. He is a line drive hitter and shows power to the pull side. On the bump, Holden commands his fastball on both sides of the plate and he has a plus breaking ball. He gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and has a quick arm action. Holden has a high baseball IQ and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Holden continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and is a prospect on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Pop times showed in the 2.25 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the ball quicker. He shows a solid setup and presents a low target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls out front. At the plate, he shows an open setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 73-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with loose spin and gradual break. He slows his arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to develop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a solid team player.

03/31/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Greensboro, NC Holden is a young C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Holden shows efficient footwork and covers up well when blocking. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through the 2B bag. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth getting back into his load and leads well with his lower half. He works to barrel up the baseball and drives to his pull side. With five more years to develop, Holden has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Holden is an athletic and talented 2024 2-ways prospect. Behind the dish, Holden starts in a balanced primary and has an athletic secondary stance. He presents a low/early target, works behind the ball, and has soft hands when receiving. When blocking, Holden leads with his glove, creates a good angle over the ball, and controls balls with his chest. He replaces his feet and is synch when throwing. At the plate, Holden starts in a tall stance and has a small load. He keeps the barrel flat to the ball, shows discipline at the plate, and drives the ball to all fields. On the bump, Holden has a simple delivery and throws strikes with both pitches. He gets slight run on his fastball and has a medium break on his curveball. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and works north to south. Holden is a hard worker and we hope to see him continue his progress in the future.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Holden is an athletic and talented 2024 Catching prospect that worked hard all week. Behind the dish, Holden starts in a relaxed primary and athletic secondary stance. He has soft hands and tries works behind the ball when receiving. He leads with his glove, tucks his chin, and tries to control the ball in the dirt with his chest. He exchanges the ball with two hands, has a quick release, and replaces his feet when throwing. He needs to continue to take a short jab step and gain ground when throwing to second base. At the plate, Holden starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and gets his backside through the swing consistently. He has fast hands, and drives the ball to all fields. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and be aggressive on the fastball. Holden is a hard worker and will continue to improve with experience.

09/30/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Raleigh, NC Holden is an athletic and advanced 2-way player who catches and plays SS. Behind the plate, Holden has solid actions, he sticks the ball well, and has good lateral movements. He tracks well, keeps the ball in front when blocking, and throws with accuracy and direction toward his target while showing his strong arm (already posting a 2.21 pop time as a 7th grader). At SS, Holden has quick/fluid feet, he fields athletically, and gets rid of the ball quickly; throwing with a short/loose arm to his target. At the plate, Holden has a tall/open stance, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He can spray to all fields and gets his lower body through the zone. He will be one to watch as he gets older for sure.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
