11/06/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Salem (Roanoke), VA Holden is a 2B in the class of 2024. At the plate, he has a balanced set-up and stays inside his feet well. Uses a direct path and uses his barrel to get to the baseball. Show line drive ability to the gaps and with more strength, he can generate further backspin to assist with his ball flight. In the field, he has active feet and centers his body to the baseball. He works well around the bag with his feet and feeds. Uses a high slot and is accurate. Working to sink his hips with his glove out in front will allow him to adjust to long and shorts hops. Overall, Holden is a solid player.

10/09/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC Holden continues to shine with his baseball abilities. At 2B, he displays fluid / smooth actions. Feet are active but needs to attack ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

07/10/2022 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (HS) Holden is a 2024 2B who worked hard on his skills during the Cape Cod Training and Competition. In the field, Holden starts on the balls of his feet and showed smooth actions. Gets good reads off bat and creates good fielding angles in all directions. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body and his exchange is clean. Keeps his feet active throughout fielding process and made accurate throws to first base with an arm velocity up to 70mph. At the plate, a quiet head and level eyes enable him to track pitches well. Starts with a small glide step and has a high finish. He sprayed balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 74mph during BP. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Holden as he enters his junior year of high school.

04/10/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bristol, VA Holden is a talented 2B in the 2024 class. In the field, he has a active feet and attack the ball with controlled and smooth actions. He fields in a squared position and has pocket feel. His exchanges are quick and clean and uses short arm action. Releases from a high slot to produce accurate feeds. Working to sink his hips more in the fielding position will allow him to keep his eyes under the baseball and read hops. At the plate, he has a squared set up and a short stride. He is aggressive and proves to be a line drive hitter to all parts of the field. Has a short and direct attack angle and works well to the inner half of the baseball. Overall, Holden has solid starting points and should make an impact on his high school team.

10/23/2021 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 14-18) Holden continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and he maintains balance.

09/05/2021 - All-In Membership - Richmond, VA Holden is a 2B prospect who will graduate in 2024. In the field, Holden moves well to his glove side and fields the ball out in front of his body. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate/on-line to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Holden field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance with center balance. He works through a level swing and produces solid contact. Holden can barrel up more baseballs by working a smoother load into his swing. With three more years to develop, Holden has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
