06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Horacio continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At the plate, power potential is at a pro level through a squared setup. Hands are quick (98 mph exit velocity) as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line to the deepest part of the park. At the event, he was 3 for 8 with 2 2B. Defensively, feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Horacio is a strong/physical (6'3"/245) 1B prospect in the 2022 class that brings a lot of energy to the field. At the plate, he steps into the box with a square/balanced setup. He shows gap-to-gap power with fast hands and explosive barrel speed (exit velo = 94 mph). Horacio has good balance at the plate and swings the bat with authority. At 1B, he has good bag awareness and makes all routine plays. He uses a good glove with the ability to pick the ball out of the dirt and uses a clean exchange. Throws are online with zip (82 mph) from a high 3/4 arm slot. Overall, Horacio is a talented prospect, and we look forward to watching him develop in the future.

12/01/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Lynwood (Chicago), IL Horacio showed well offensively and defensively during his last workout with The Factory. He raised arm strength to 76 MPH and exit velocity to 86 MPH. At 1B, Horacio has active feet, good range, and his hands are soft. He makes plays consistently, he has fluid actions, and his exchange is clean with a loose/accurate arm to his target. On the mound, Horacio has good balance and a clean arm circle. He separates his hands on time, gets good extension on his pitches, and competes in the zone. Offensively, Horacio is a strong hitter with good balance and fast bat speed. He stands in the box athletically, swings aggressively, and he hits the ball hard.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Horacio is a talented 2022 2-way prospect with a strong lower half. At 1B, Horacio fields the ball in front of his body and picks the ball well. He has a quick release on double plays and makes accurate throws. He needs to continue to be on time with his prep step, present a low/early glove, and improve his first step to the ball. At the plate, Horacio starts in an open stance, creates rhythm in his hands, and gets his front foot down on time. He needs to load his hands back into the drive position, attack the inside part of the ball, and create backside drive. He has a middle approach and had 5 solid hits during the weekend. On the bump, Horacio shows confidence in both of his pitches and has good tempo in his delivery. He has good arm action but needs to continue to find a balance point over the backside and ride his back leg downhill. Horacio was eager to learn and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/02/2018 - College PREP - Lynwood (Chicago), IL Horacio is a tall, solid 1B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through a tall, open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 66-68 mph with slight arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Horacio has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
