08/14/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Gambrills, MD Howard continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and is a prospect on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time. At 2B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent hard contact (86 mph exit velocity) and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate. Arm strength continues to improve as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for pitch. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

09/08/2018 - College PREP - Gambrills, MD Howard is a tall, athletic RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point and works in line to his target. Fastball showed a range of 71-72 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with early break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for pitch with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. With 4 years to further develop, Howard has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
