  • C/SSPosition Projection

02/17/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Dallas, TX Hudson is an athletic C/SS prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At SS, Hudson shows fluid footwork and is very agile flashing great lateral range. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry across the diamond. Behind the plate, Hudson shows quick footwork and is agile moving to block. He receives with soft hands and makes a clean exchange to throw. He gains momentum well on his throws to 2B, keeping them consistently on-line to the bag. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and gets into his load well. His quick hands lead to fast bat speed through the zone, producing great power. Overall, Hudson is a talented prospect who is one to follow during this, his junior season.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Hudson is a big strong 2020 catcher out of Texas. Defensively, he receives the ball very well, has a nice low relaxed primary stance that will allow him minimal post pitch movement to earn more strikes for his pitchers. Blocking technique is solid, centers the ball well and controls rebounds. He anticipates well so he can get to the spot to ensure the baseball stays in front of him. He has quick feet transitioning to throw mixed with a clean exchange and creates nice accurate throws on the bag with a 2.02 POP time to 2B. Offensively, Hudson looks to be maturing into a power type prospect. He's nice and loose at the plate mixed with good bat speed registering a 97mph bat exit velocity. He showcased big power potential to the pull side. Hudson has a bright future ahead of himself.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
