10/17/2018 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Hudson continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond as he continues to improve his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.34 runner. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target through a quick transfer / exchange. Throws are accurate with pop times improving as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Glove action is soft / quiet and he tracks balls well through the receiving process. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process in getting down quickly and utilizes his body well. Receiving / blocking tools show as outstanding tools that will make an immediate impact at the next level. At the plate, power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and is very coachable as he works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/18/2018 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Hudson is an athlete that works hard behind the plate and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, feet are quick in gaining ground through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.06 with accuracy and zip on his throws. He shows a solid setup and sticks balls well in the zone and utilizes his body well through the blocking process and is a wall behind the plate. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues shine, displaying outstanding hitting / power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable, and plays the game hard. Hudson has the tools to play at the next level and will make some school a special type player.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Hudson is a solid 2020 Catcher out of California. Behind the plate he receives the ball well with a quiet stance, good tracking ability and clean hands. Excels blocking balls in the dirt. His quiet body allows him to focus on anticipating balls in the dirt and he attacks the baseballs to the spot to keep everything in front of him. At the plate, Hudson is an above average offensive catcher with a squared setup, good swing path and some power to his pull side. As he is still young, look for Hudson to continue to polish his tools and prove to be a viable college recruit.

10/04/2017 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Hudson is a strong (6'1"/175) R/R catcher who has a solid all-around skill-set. He is a coachable player who works hard day in and day out. Offensively, this righty shows a slightly open stance with rhythm in his hands. He swings against a firm front side, engages his lower 1/2 and connects with pop (exit velocity = 85 mph). At the event, he collected 4 hits (3 singles, a double and 2 RBI's). Defensively behind the dish, Reece sits in well and presents a low/quiet target. He moves well laterally and works to center pitches in the dirt off of his chest. Throws to 2B are accurate with pop times now at 2.20. Times will continue to drop as he works to gain more ground and quickens his transfer. Hudson has a ton of upside and will only continue to progress. Only a sophomore, he is one to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
