01/12/2018 - 2018 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Hugo continued to show as a prospect at the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. On the mound, Hugo shows a solid delivery as he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm action and stays inline towards the plate. Hugo has a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph. Breaking ball sits from 63-66mph with 10-4 break. In the field, Hugo is very agile moving to the ball and makes the routine plays. He has a quick release on his throws and keeps them accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He maintains center balance and comes through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to hard contact and gap to gap pop. Hugo is a skill prospect with upside on the diamond.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Hugo continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but will benefit by playing through with his body. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 76 mph. Fastball showed a range of 72-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with early break. Mental makeup is a plus as he is makes adjustments and is a great team player.

04/15/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Hattiesburg, MS Hugo is an athletic RHP/1B who will graduate in 2021. Defensively at 1B, he displays efficient footwork as he shows good bag awareness. He fields gb's in an athletic/square position and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. On the hill, this RHP delivers from a hi 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm action. He keeps his FB (67-71) down in the zone and commands his off speed pitches for strikes. With the bat, Hugo presents a smooth rhythm to load. He whips his barrel quickly to the ball and drives pitches with hard contact from gap to gap. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral range
2. Develop softer hands/glove
3. Smooth backhand glove
Pitching
1. Work in line
2. Develop CH
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
