Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/1BPosition Projection

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Hunter is a coachable player who has a willingness to learn. He asks questions, makes adjustments and works to be the best player he can be. On the mound, this tall LHP displays fluid rhythm/tempo and works at his pace, repeating his delivery well. Arm action works cleanly as he keeps his eyes on the target and fills up the zone. FB now tops out at 73 mph with some tailing action. Changeup shows to be his best off-speed pitch as he throws it with FB arm speed, helping to create some deception to the hitters. Working to develop a stronger front side (glove side lead & tuck) while driving his strong lower 1/2 off of the rubber will help to get even more into his pitches. At 1B, Hunter shows active footwork and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He tracks the ball into his mitt, gathers well and makes the plays. As a hitter, this lefty displays a tall/balanced setup with rhythm in his hands. Barrel is whipped through the zone as he squares the ball up with some pop (exit velocity now at 82 mph). Even more power potential is there as he works to engage and drive his full lower 1/2. Hunter is a solid/projectable 2-way prospect who will toe the rubber, throw strikes and eat up innings.

07/17/2017 - College PREP - Rindge, NH Hunter is a strong built left-handed pitching prospect who uses his frame effectively and graduates in 2018. On the mound, Hunter has a balanced delivery working downhill throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He has a clean arm action and extends through his release. Hunter does a nice job of not overthrowing and finishes ready to fields his position. He can benefit from an on-line stride at the proper length. Hunter features a full repertoire with a curveball, slider, and split changeup as his off speed pitches. Offensively, Hunter has a tall stance with a centered balance. He takes a good load with an on-time stride. Hunter has an aggressive approach and maintains a strong base. He has good pull side power potential. Overall, Hunter is a projectable pitching prospect who has good upside to make an impact at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
