11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Hunter is a compact C/2B prospect who works hard and always asks questions on how to get better. He is a reliable defender behind the plate with feel for the position and fluid actions to receive and block. He shows quick, active feet to slide and block while recovering quickly and gaining ground to throw. He tracks the ball well and works around to receive and stick pitches in the zone. A long toss program will improve arm strength and lower pop times to second. At the plate, he loads to a stacked position with a strong bat angle through the zone. He shows barrel awareness and tracks the ball to the bat to use all fields and show opposite field ability. Hunter is a prospect we will be keeping an eye on moving forward.

07/10/2017 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Hunter continues to steady progress on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, the showed accuracy on his throws. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone through the receiving process. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 6 with 2 BB. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

06/21/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Hunter is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series. Behind the plate, Hunter shows fluid footwork when moving to block balls in the dirt. He presents a good target to the pitcher and receives with firm hands. He has a short arm action to throw form a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate to 2B. Hunter can improve as a C by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time. He shows smooth rhythm and leads well with his lower half. Hunter can improve as a hitter by taking a more direct swing path and by extending through the ball. Only a 2022 grad, Hunter has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

05/28/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Keizer (Salem), OR Hunter is a C/2B who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, he shows solid footwork and presents a good target. He's quick to his knees when blocking and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. At 2B, he takes a prep step and tries to work around the GB. He give accurate feeds and works well around the bag on DP's. With the stick, Hunter displays a balanced setup with smooth rhythm to load. He swings on a direct path through the zone and creates consistent contact with each pitch. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
